Well I thought I would start a blog. But then I started to wonder why. I'm not very crafty. So I have no cute little crafts to share. We don't have any children. So no cute pictures and stories to post. But we do have cats so you might see them from time to time and Jeremy is an amazing cook so I might share a few of his tricks in the kitchen. (and maybe some of my disasters!!)
I guess what it all comes down to is that I want to document these years that are so exciting in their own way!
This January will mark two years that we have owned our house. It was quite an adventure when we got it. I was out looking with my parents. It was just after Christmas and I hadn't started at the library yet so I talked my mom and dad into going to look around with me. (I love looking at houses. I still do. I make Jeremy take me to open houses almost every weekend when the weather is nice.) But back to the story, I found a house on the Internet that I wanted to take a look at so we drove over to see it. I fell in love with the house next door. It was an open house and there was someone who was looking at it as well. So I called Jeremy and told him he needed to leave work early and come see this house. He made it from Burlington in about 30 mins. His parents decided to come check it out too. Well I told him I loved it and this was the house I wanted so we put a contract on it that night! Then Jeremy left for Texas for six weeks. Five kitchen floors later (seriously, five.) I closed on the house while Jeremy was still in Texas and painted the kitchen plum! I love our house.
I have a point for telling the house story. Sometimes I think we are great home owners. Christmas decorations in the windows, house clean, etc. Other times not so sure. The other day we were cleaning up a bit and Jeremy decided to turn on the self cleaning oven. We generally avoid this at all costs. It makes the house smell SOOO bad and it makes our eyes burn and water. Well sometimes it just has to be done. So he started the self cleaner. Eyes burning, check. Horrible smell, check. Lots and lots of smoke?? Humm... that's not right. Jeremy had left my baking stone in the oven. Well, I wasn't aware that stones could cook, but apparently they can. My poor stone is black all the way through! Needless to say, I need a new stone and the oven has still not been cleaned. I'm trying to figure out the next weekend I work so I can put that on Jeremy's to do list.
